Piotr Lisek Wins Berlin Pole Vault Over Thiago Braz de Silva and Renaud LavillenieBy Adam Kopet The ISATF Indoor meet Friday in Berlin saw a close pole vault competition among some of the top male vaulters in the world. Piotr Lisek of Poland came out on top with his clearance of 19-1.5 (5.83m). He was one of two vaulters to clear six meters in 2017. Thiago Braz de Silva of Brazil and Renaud Lavillenie of France finished second and third, respectively, both clearing 18-8.25 (5.70m), but with the Brazilian getting the nod for second on count back.
Lavillenie holds the current world lead at 19-2.75 (5.86m). Lisek took three attempts at 19-3.5 (5.88m), but all were misses. After all the action finished, the stadium was reorganized for an indoor discus competition featuring Germany's Robert Harting. |
